I always used 20-50 Castrol Gtx and it had about 110k miles on it. I detonated it after a highway pull about 6-7 yrs. ago not knowing that I had to turn down the Profec B Spec 2 boost controller from 18 lbs of boost on pump to about 16 on a highway pull. Noob Live and learn. Fast forward to break down of motor: motor ring lands blown due to detonation. I didn't know what was going to be found upon inspection but The main bearings are perfect per Tony..Little to no wear which is great probably due to the 20/50 weight oil I used religiously..... Im putting in new 87.5mm Wiseco pistons, not going to 88mm because it is not needed and why bore if not necessary... Here's the question: Any suggestions or recommendations while this far in on the rebuild as far as parts or things to do? Im not trying to make a track or drag car..Just fast for the street (over 500-600hp at the rear wheels) and very reliable...Well as reliable as possible. Any input would be great... moral of the story: 20/50 Castrol GTX oil ftw...:)
